Faith in Action Wrap-Up

October 14th, 2009

Thanks to everyone who helped with our Faith in Action workday on October 3rd. Between sixty and seventy people worked to serve God and neighbor throughout the day on Saturday. In the end, we were able to

  • Put together over 65 boxes for Project Agape providing gifts and supplies for children in Armenia;
  • Bake 160 dozen cookies — 135 dozen cookies for Kairos, a spiritual formation experience for men serving in prison, 12 dozen cookies for Meals on Wheels clients, and 13 dozen cookies for the hungry volunteers;
  • Complete home repairs for two seniors in our community
    arls prepare for their open house and ministry by providing curtains, two picnic tables and landscaping.  House of Pearls will provide transitional housing for women seeking a new, safe and faith based fresh start;
  • Prepare and deliver meals to 43 Meals on Wheels clients;
  • Collect over 1400 food items for Crisis Assistance Ministries and Loaves & Fishes;
  • Offer comfort and encouragement through the ministry of prayer shawls.

This is the second year that the communities of Marshville Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church of Marshville and MUMC have come together to work together and broaden our little piece of the kingdom through service and prayer to our neighbors.  Our joint worship service on World Communion Sunday was a fitting witness to the great things that God is doing in our midst.  Thank you for sharing your prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.
