Here’s some additional links for Outreach agencies that we support by giving time and money:
Society of St. Andrew: Meets people’s physical and spiritual hungers through God’s grace and abundance by providing food for the body and God’s word for the spirit. A cornerstone of their ministry is gleaning. A donation of $12.00 for a Christmas card will allow about 800 servings of food to America’s hungry families. www.endhunger.org
The Urban Ministry Center: Located in Charlotte and serves people who are homeless and poor through tangible assistance and a wide variety of support programs. http://www.urbanministrycenter.org/
Crisis Assistance: Was founded by some Union County churches to provide help to families in emergency situations. http://www.unioncrisis.org/
Heifer International: By using creative methods works on long term solutions to help alleviate world hunger. Buy a water buffalo for $250.00 or a flock of chicks for $20.00 and many more in between. http://www.heifer.org/
World Vision: Since 1950 served as a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to overcoming poverty and injustice. $25.00 provides job training for women and girls, $41.00 provides needed immunizations. www.worldvision.org
Nothing but Nets: $10.00 will buy a mosquito net to help prevent malaria. http://www.nothingbutnets.net/
The Advance: Administered by the General Board of Global Missions of the UMC. 100% of all gifts go to build churches, provide bicycles to lay pastors, train needed midwives, underwrite cataract surgery and much, much more. http://www.advancinginhope.org/
Union County Habitat for Humanity: A Christian nonprofit organization that builds homes for lower income families. The families participate in building and paying for the homes. http://www.unionhabitat.org/
